Scott joins Justesen in front at Canadian Tour Championship
Windsor, ON (Sports Network) - Local favorite Richard Scott shot a four-under 67 on Saturday to join second-round leader Erick Justesen atop the leaderboard after the third round of the Canadian Tour Championship.
Scott, who lives in nearby Kingsville, Ontario, and Justesen, who posted a three-under 68 on Saturday, finished 54 holes at 17-under 196 and are one shot clear at Ambassador Golf Club.
Garrett Sapp fired a seven-under 64 in round three and jumped into third at 16-under 197.
Stuart Anderson's five-under 66 moved him to fourth at 15-under 198 and Roger Sloan, who shared the first-round lead with Scott, carded a six-under 65 on Saturday and is fifth at minus-15.
Scott was flawless on Saturday with four birdies and no bogeys. He took advantage of the two par fives on the front side, the third and seventh, then notched birdies at 11 and 16.
Justesen established a new course record and matched the tournament 18-hole mark on Friday with a 62. He couldn't equal the task on Saturday, but he played brilliantly early in the third round.
Justesen tallied four birdies in his first 10 holes to reach 18-under par for the championship. He stumbled a bit on the back nine with a bogey at 12, then bogeyed 17 to fall one behind Scott.
A birdie at the 18th gave Justesen a share of the lead with 18 to play.
Creighton Honeck shot a four-under 67 and is sixth at 13-under 200. Tyler Harris had a five-under 66 on Saturday and is alone in seventh place at minus-12.
Kris Wasylowich (65), Wes Homan (66), James Love (67), Dodge Kemmer (69) and Matt Hoffman (70) are knotted in eighth place at 11-under 202.
NOTES: Both third-round co-leaders are winless on the Canadian Tour...The leaders' total of 17-under 196 smashed Lucas Lee's and Andrew Parr's 54-hole record from 2009 by three...The top two players on the Canadian Tour Order of Merit following this event will be exempted into the second stage of PGA Tour Q School...Jose de Jesus Rodriguez and Hugo Leon are in those spots at the moment.
