NCAA Game Summary - Bowling Green at Akron

Akron, OH (Sports Network) - Matt Schilz completed 14-of-33 passes for 180
yards, two touchdowns and an interception as the Bowling Green Falcons
secured a 24-10 victory over the Akron Zips at InfoCision Stadium.
Bowling Green (3-3, 1-1 MAC) running back Anthon Samuel ran for 117 yards
and a touchdown on 15 carries. Alex Bayer was Schilz's favorite target in
the game catching five passes for 93 yards while scoring two touchdowns.
As for Akron (1-5, 0-2) quarterback Dalton Williams completed 29-of-50
passes for 228 yards and one touchdown. Running back Jawon Chisholm had
100 yards on the ground off of 16 carries.
It was a slow start for both teams offensively until Williams connected
with Tyrell Goodman midway through the second quarter for a 17-yard
touchdown pass to put the Zips up 7-0.
The Falcons struggled in the first half offensively and Schilz threw an
interception with one minute left before halftime. It was enough time for
the Zips to add on to their lead when Robert Stein made a 46-yard field
goal to put them up 10-0.
On the opening drive of the second half, the Falcons got into a rhythm
offensively and Samuel punched it in for a four yard touchdown run, which made
the score 10-7.
Bowling Green regained possession and Stephen Stein made a 26-yard field goal
to tie the game up at 10-10.
Schilz connected with Bayer for a 60-yard touchdown to give the Falcons their
first lead of the game at 17-10.
The Falcon's defense forced a three-and-out and regained possession, but
Stephen Stein missed a 24-yard field goal at the beginning of the fourth
quarter.
The Falcons forced another three-and-out and their offense put together an
eight-play scoring drive capped by a 12-yard touchdown pass from Schilz to
Bayer.
Akron could not put together a late rally and Bowling Green sealed the
victory at 24-10.
Bowling Green out gained Akron 472-316 in total yards.
