GAMES NOTES: In the first and only scheduled meeting this season between them the Wofford Terriers will visit the Samford Bulldogs for a Southern Conference tilt at the Pete Hanna Center on Thursday night.

Wofford has had just a few days to recover from Monday's devastating loss to Western Carolina. The Terriers dropped the decision, 57-56 when the Catamounts' Trey Sumler hit a jump shot with two seconds left on the clock. The loss ended a brief two-game winning streak for the Terriers who are just 10-16 overall and 4-9 against teams in the SoCon. Wofford will match up with Chattanooga, in its second to last home game this season, on Saturday.

Samford also endured a difficult loss last time out. The Bulldogs faced Chattanooga and lost 62-59 in overtime for their fifth loss in the last five outings. Samford has a worse overall record than Wofford (8-17) but has managed to scrape its way to an even 6-6 ledger in SoCon play. Samford, which has split its 10 games at home, will be on the road against Furman next.

In last season's lone meeting Samford came away with a 66-61 win that needed overtime to decide. It was the first win for the Bulldogs against Wofford in Southern Conference play. Wofford had won the first five meetings as league foes and leads the all-time series, 6-3.

In the final three minutes in Wofford's battle with Western Carolina there were six lead changes with the last coming on Sumler's game-winner. Wofford had a chance to get off a final shot but Indiana Faithfull had the ball stolen in the final seconds.

The Terriers' offensive woes continued in the contest. Wofford is the worst scoring (58.9 ppg) and shooting (.392) team in the SoCon and has failed to reach above 70 points in all but one league tilt while being held under 60 in seven. Wofford has kept teams close, holding foes to 60.3 points per game on 43.8 percent shooting. Karl Cochran (15.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg) is the lead scorer on the squad but his consistency has been less than ideal as he shoots at just a 35.6 percent clip. Spencer Collins (13,.1 ppg) also suffers from erratic shooting (.397 FG percentage), while Lee Skinner (10.1 ppg) is the only other player above five points per game.

Samford had to claw its way back to force overtime against Chattanooga. The Bulldogs were down by five points with a little more than two minutes remaining but managed to tie the game on a Tim Williams' layup and a Tyler Hood 3-pointer. Williams also hit the game-tying free-throws that forced overtime with under a minute left. Samford never led in overtime and hit just 1-of-5 shots from the field.

For Samford, the duo of Williams (14.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and Raijon Kelly (14.5 ppg, 4.6 apg) have been the driving force as they form a nice inside-outside combination. Williams has been in double figures in nine straight games but has had his rebounding numbers dwindle failing to reach above four boards in four of the last five games. Kelly has a three-game streak of double-figure scoring efforts in which he has shot better than 50 percent from the floor. In the previous seven games, Kelly didn't get above 40 percent shooting. Clide Geffrard Jr (10.5 ppg) is another double-figure scorer but like the Terriers, Samford hasn't scored well as a team, ranking second to last in points (61.8 ppg) among SoCon squads. The Bulldogs are also the worst rebounding unit in the league (27.6 pg).

Based on their resumes, Thursday nights matchup promises to be a low-scoring affair. Though Samford could have some issues controlling the boards, Wofford hasn't put together much fight away from home (2-13), which is good news for the Bulldogs.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Samford 62, Wofford 58
