GAME NOTES: The Princeton Tigers attempt to stay perfect in the Ivy League on Friday night, as they entertain the Brown Bears at Jadwin Gymnasium.

Brown is just 8-10 overall, but it has played well since the start of league play, winning twice while taking two other games to overtime. The Bears fought hard last Saturday, mounting an improbable comeback to extend the action at Harvard, but they ultimately fell after two extra sessions, 89-82.

After starting the season a disappointing 5-7, Princeton has won each of its five games, including all three of its Ivy League contests. The Tigers are in the midst of a season-long, six-game homestand, having already beaten Penn (65-53), Cornell (76-59) and most recently, Columbia last Saturday (72-66).

Princeton has a firm handle on the all-time series with Brown, 92-26, which includes a season sweep in 2011-12. The Tigers have been especially dominant at home in the series (57-5).

Brown showed great resiliency in last Saturday's bout with Yale, climbing out of a 22-point hole in the second half to tie the game in the waning seconds of regulation on a Sean McGonagill jumper. The team once again hit a game-tying bucket in the final minute of the first overtime, but its luck ran out in the second extra session as it was saddled with the seven-point loss. McGonagill was fantastic in defeat, pouring in 20 points while adding eight assists, five rebounds and three steals. Matt Sullivan was stellar from the foul line (9- of-10) on his way to 18 points, while Stephen Albrecht and Rafael Mala netted 12 points apiece. On the season, McGonagill is one of the league's most talented guards, scoring 14.7 ppg while adding 4.3 rpg, 4.8 apg and 1.5 spg to his stat line. Sullivan is hot on McGonagill's heels for the scoring lead with 14.4 ppg, while Mala chips in 10.7 ppg on 51.7 percent shooting and a league- high 7.5 rpg. Despite owning the third-best scoring defense in the league (65.1 ppg), the Bears have a negative scoring margin due to its lackluster showing at the offensive end (63.1 ppg).

Princeton pieced together a strong all-around performance in its six-point win over Columbia the last time out, shooting 51.1 percent from the field, including a lofty 8-of-11 from 3-point range, while missing just four of its 22 free throws (.818). Ian Hummer was off the mark with his shot (2-of-8), but he took care of business at the foul line (12-of-14) and finished with 16 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. T.J. Bray led the team with 17 points, while Denton Koon and Will Barrett tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively. Hummer is making a strong play for Ivy League Player of the Year, as he ranks second in the conference in scoring (15.9 ppg), third in assists (4.5 apg), fourth in rebounding (6.7 rpg), and sixth in field goal percentage (.510). While Hummer is the only player to average double figures for the Tigers, Koon (9.5 ppg), Barrett (9.3 ppg) and Bray (8.6 ppg) have all been solid as secondary scoring options. As a team, Princeton boasts the league's best scoring margin (+5.9) by netting 63.4 ppg while owning the top- ranked scoring defense (57.5 ppg).

Brown has been a pleasant surprise this season, and it has the talent to make some noise down the stretch, but it'll be hard-pressed to take down one of the league favorites on its home floor.
