Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dalton Pepper and Will Cummings scored
16 points apiece as the Temple Owls defeated Big 5 foe Saint Joseph's, 77-69,
in a non-conference game at the Liacouras Center.
Anthony Lee had a double-double for the Owls (4-3) with 15 points and 11
rebounds. Quenton DeCosey added 10 points and three steals, while Cummings
handed out seven assists.
Langston Galloway's 24 points led Saint Joseph's (4-3). Ronald Roberts added
13 points, DeAndre Bembry tallied 12 points and nine rebounds, while Halil
Kanacevic scored 11 and also claimed nine boards in the setback.
The Owls shot 38.8 percent from the field and 4-of-13 from 3-point range in
the first half, helping to give them a 39-34 lead at intermission. The Hawks
converted 36.3 percent
on their field goal attempts and only 2-of-10 from beyond the arc.
Temple came out of the break and shot a solid 52 percent from the floor. Saint
Joseph's struggled, only shooting 40.6 percent from the field and making a
mere 4-of-16 from the 3-point line. With 2:09 left Temple went on a 12-4 run
to close out the win.
The home team won despite being outrebounded, 45-37, but made up for that
deficit by owning a 25-2 scoring advantage among the reserves.
