Birmingham, AL (Sports Network) - Terence Jones and Preston Purifoy each
scored 17 points as the UAB Blazers defeated the Northeastern Huskies, 83-63,
in a non-conference matchup at Bartow Arena.
Jordan Swing had 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists for UAB (7-6)
which won for the third time in four games. Rod Rucker posted a double-double
of 12 points and 10 rebounds as well for the Blazers.
Quincy Ford had a double-double of his own (14 points, 10 rebounds) for
Northeastern (5-7) which has lost six of its last seven. Reggie Spencer added
13 points and Jonathan Lee chipped in 11 points.
UAB led 47-34 at intermission after shooting at a 51.7 percent clip in the
first half including a 6-of-15 effort from beyond the arc. Northeastern fell
behind by shooting just 40.6 percent in the first 20 minutes.
