Sparks edge Shock in OT

Tulsa, OK (SportsNetwork.com) - Jantel Lavender had the game-tying layup with 17 seconds left in regulation and the Los Angeles Sparks rallied for a 92-89 overtime victory over the Tulsa Shock on Saturday.

Lavender, who finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, supplied four points in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime at an 80-80 tie.

Tulsa jumped out to an 85-82 lead with 2:20 to go in overtime before Kristi Toliver's three during an 8-0 run put the Sparks ahead for good.

The Shock pulled within two on a Skylar Diggins trey, but Candace Parker and Sandrine Gruda each split a pair of free throws with less than 20 seconds left to seal the outcome.

Tulsa trailed 47-32 at halftime, but outscored Los Angeles 32-18 in the third quarter and went ahead on consecutive treys from Jordan Hooper with two minutes gone in the fourth.

Nneka Ogwumike scored 22 points and Parker supplied 15 points and seven assists for the Sparks, who have won three of their last four games.

Diggins had a game-high 29 points and Odyssey Sims contributed a 17-point, 10-assist double-double for Tulsa, which has dropped three of its last five games.
