Long Beach, CA (Sports Network) - Veteran Champ Car driver Paul Tracy was injured while practicing for Sunday's Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. The Forsythe Championship Racing driver lost control of his race car and slammed into a cement barrier.
Tracy complained of back pain and went for an MRI at a local hospital.
The team said Oriol Servia would attempt to qualify Tracy's car on Saturday and his time would count if he drove the car on Sunday. If Tracy was ok to race this weekend, then the Canadian would be forced to use his Friday qualifying time which likely would leave him near the back of the field.
