=== Clark leaves Jacksonville State for job at UAB ===

Birmingham, AL (SportsNetwork.com) - Bill Clark has decided to leave his head
coaching position at Jacksonville State for a similar job at UAB.

Jacksonville State confirmed the move and announced assistant head coach and
offensive coordinator John Grass would be elevated to head coach of the
 Gamecocks.

Clark spent one season as head coach of Jacksonville State and led the team to
an 11-4 record. That included a 35-24 loss to Eastern Washington in the FCS
 quarterfinals.

Clark replaces Garrick McGee, who departed UAB earlier this month to take over
as the assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at
Louisville. McGee was reunited with Louisville coach Bobby Petrino. McGee was
the offensive coordinator in 2010-11 for Petrino at Arkansas.

Grass, a 1990 graduate of Jacksonville State, came aboard Clark's staff in
2013 after serving as a head coach at the high school level for over 17 years.
Grass engineered an offense that saw the Gamecocks set a total of 49 school
 records.

"It's a great opportunity, with the circumstances that arose with Coach Clark
going to UAB," Grass said. "I felt blessed last year to become part of this
university as a football coach. I'm looking to build on the success we had
last year. I'm excited about that opportunity and continuing that success."
