            === National downs American in NFLPA Collegiate Bowl ===
 
 Carson,  CA  (SportsNetwork.com) -  LSU fullback J.C.  Copeland rushed for two
 touchdowns to lead the National team to a 31-17 win over the American squad in
 the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
 
 Cincinnati's  Brendon Kay  was  3-for-7  passing with  a  touchdown to  Asante
 Cleveland in the win.
 
 Sean  Schroeder of  Hawaii  converted  13-of-17 passes  for  138  yards and  a
 touchdown  in the setback, while Bloomsburg's Franklyn Quiteh carried 10 times
 for 48 yards and a score.
 
 Quiteh  opened  the scoring with  a 20-yard  rushing score following a 26-yard
 hookup  from UCLA's  James Franklin  to Gerald  Ford. Quiteh  is the  reigning
 Harlon Hill Trophy winner signifying the top player in Division II.
 
 The National team got on the board to open the 2nd quarter as Copeland plunged
 up the middle for a one-yard touchdown to even the score.
 
 Copeland  added  another one-yard  touchdown  run  on the  following  National
 possession.  The  drive was  highlighted by a  successful conversion on fourth
 down followed by a 33-yard catch by Isaiah Burse from Dustin Vaughan.
 
 The American team answered with a 10-play 84-yard drive that culminated with a
 15-yard touchdown pass from Schroeder to Eric Ward.
 
 The two teams were tied at 14-14 heading into the half.
 
 Cleveland  hauled in  a 27-yard pass from  Kay with 10:48 left in the third to
 break  the deadlock. Kay  lofted the ball up to the far corner of the end zone
 as Cleveland went up and grabbed it to put the National team on top.
 
 Following  an American punt, Stanford's Anthony Wilkerson increased the margin
 with a 27-yard touchdown down the near sideline for a 28-14 lead.
 
 The  two teams  then  traded field  goals with  National  kicker Cairo  Santos
 splitting  the uprights  from  39 yards  out  late in  the  third quarter  and
 Vincenzo  D'Amato hitting from 35 yards away to cut the deficit to 31-17 early
 in the fourth which capped the scoring.
