GAME NOTES: The Towson Tigers try to get back on the winning track when they travel to visit the North Dakota State Bison at Bison Sports Arena on Saturday evening.
The Tigers come into the contest off a loss to Oregon State on Wednesday night, 76-67. Mike Burwell led the team in scoring with 20 points. Jerrelle Benimon added 11 points and 12 rebounds for the Tigers, who have dropped three of four games overall and remain winless on the road this season.
The Bison, on the other hand, are on a roll. They have won six of the last seven games, with the lone loss coming to then second-ranked Ohio State. Last time on the court, North Dakota State came away with an 85-66 win over Delaware, moving to 8-4 on the year.
This will be the first-ever meeting between these two schools on the hardwood.
Towson is led in scoring by Benimon, who is scoring at a 16.1 ppg clip. He also averages a team-best 10.3 boards per game and shoots a very efficient 49.6 percent from the field. Rafriel Guthrie and Marcus Damas round out the double figure scorers for Towson, which averages 72.5 points per game for the season. Guthrie scored 12.3 ppg, while Damas chips in with 11.4 ppg.
Senior Tyler Braun scored 33 points and Marshall Bjorklund tallied 16 points to lead the Bison in their most recent win. NDSU shot 52.9 percent from the floor in the easy win.
North Dakota State is led by Braun's 18 points per game, while Bjorklund adds 15 points per game. Braun also serves as the team's top distributor, doling out 3.6 apg. As a team, the Bison shoot 50.7 percent from the field and average 78.1 points.
It's a tough time for Towson to be traveling to Fargo to face a team on such a roll. The Tigers should be able to keep the game close, but the Bison have too much firepower and they have been strong of late.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: North Dakota State 72, Towson 65
