Queens, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - D'Angelo Harrison poured in a season-high 29 points to lead the St. John's Red Storm past the Youngstown State Penguins, 96-87, in a non-conference clash at Carnesecca Arena.

Harrison did his damage on 9-of-15 from the field, including 5-of-6 from 3- point range for St. John's (8-3), which has won four of five. Phil Greene IV scored 17 points, JaKarr Sampson tallied 16 points and 13 rebounds and Sir'Dominic Pointer also had 16 points.

For YSU (8-6), Kendrick Perry paced six teammates in double figures with 20 points. Ryan Weber registered 16 points, Marcus Keene scored 14, DJ Cole netted 12, Shawn Amiker had 10 and Bobby Hain tallied 11 points and 11 boards.

YSU shot 48.1 percent from the field in the first half, compared 43.8 percent for St. John's. The teams went into the half tied at 43 after the Red Storm drained 6-of-8 from beyond the arc in the opening 20 minutes.

St. John's separated itself from the Penguins with an 11-4 run early in the second half to take a 10-point advantage with 13:42 play. YSU would get no closer than six points the rest of the way.

The Red Storm shot 28-of-37 from the free-throw line on the afternoon, while the Penguins were just 18-of-26 from the stripe.
