Reno, NV (Sports Network) - Deonte Burton scored the go-ahead three-point play with 14 seconds remaining to help the Nevada Wolf Pack to an 80-77 victory over the Cal State Fullerton Titans as part of the World Vision Classic at the Lawlor Events Center.
Burton scored a team-high 19 points for Nevada (1-1). Kevin Panzer finished with 18 points while Cole Huff contributed 11 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
The Titans (0-2) were led by Kwame Vaughn, who netted a game-high 20 points. Sammy Yeager added 19 points and seven rebounds while D.J. Seely and Alex Harried submitted 13 and 12 point performances, respectively.
Fullerton connected on 50 percent of its field goal attempts in the first half, including 5-of-12 from the three point arc, to take a 37-32 lead into the intermission. Nevada also shot 50 percent from the floor, but converted just 3-of-11 on its three-point attempts.
After trailing by 10 points early in the second half, the Wolf Pack used a 16-5 run to take their first lead of the contest. The teams traded leads for the rest of the half. Fullerton led 77-75 with just 33 seconds to play when Burton absorbed a foul while putting in a layup. He drained the ensuing free throw to put Nevada up 78-77. After a missed layup by Seely, Burton added two more free throws with one second remaining to seal the victory.
The Wolf Pack outscored the Titans in the paint, 32-22.
