NCAA Game Summary - Cal Poly at TCU (Friday, November 9) Final Score: TCU 53, Cal Poly 46 Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - Amric Fields scored a game-high 16 points as he helped lead the TCU Horned Frogs to a 53-46 win over the Cal Poly Mustangs in the season opener at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum. Also scoring in double figures for the Horned Frogs (1-0), and new head coach Trent Johnson, were Kyan Anderson and Garlon Green with 13 and 10 points, respectively, the latter also clearing a team-best seven rebounds. The Mustangs (0-1) were paced by Brian Bennett who recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 boards in the setback. Chris Eversley added eight points, but he shot only 4-of-15 from the floor and missed all four of his three-point tries. Both teams had trouble shooting the ball from the floor in the first half, each converting just eight field goals, but thanks to one more three-point basket than TCU, the Mustangs grabbed a 21-20 advantage at the break. In the second half Cal Poly went from hitting 2-of-4 beyond the arc through the first 20 minutes to a mere 2-of-11 after intermission. The Frogs also outscored the visitors 10-1 at the free-throw line in the second half, en route to the seven-point triumph. The Mustangs finished the night shooting only 35.2 percent from the floor and were outscored 13-4 at the charity stripe. 11/09 21:29:38 ET Powered by The Sports Network. |
