Final Score: (1) Indiana 101, Ball State 53
Bloomington, IN (Sports Network) - Will Sheehey's 19 points paced five Indiana players in double-figure scoring as the top-ranked Hoosiers overwhelmed Ball State in a 101-53 domination at Assembly Hall.
Sheehey made good on 8-of-9 field goal attempts and Jordan Hulls netted 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting for Indiana, which finished with a 60.3 percentage from the field in moving to 6-0 on the young season.
"I'm just trying to be more aggressive and doing whatever the team needs me to do," Hulls said. "I was just ready to get in the flow."
Cody Zeller contributed 15 points in just 20 minutes of action to the rout, with Victor Oladipo adding 13 points and Christian Watford 11 to go along with a game-high 10 rebounds.
Ball State (2-2), on the other hand, shot an anemic 30.9 percent in suffering its second straight lopsided defeat to an in-state opponent. The Cardinals dropped a 68-48 decision to Indiana State on Tuesday.
Majok Majok led Ball State with 18 points.
"Our guys are competitors, so they're down," Ball State coach Billy Taylor said of his team's morale in the locker room. "They came in here and wanted to perform well."
The Hoosiers actually started out slowly, misfiring on seven of their first 11 shot attempts and holding a slim 10-8 edge six minutes in, but got rolling in a big way thereafter.
Sheehey sparked an 11-2 run with five points in a one-minute span, with Maurice Creek capping the surge with a long-distance bucket that gave Indiana a 21-10 lead with 8:59 remaining in the half.
Jauwan Scaife buried a 3-pointer on the other end to pull Ball State within eight, but the Hoosiers responded with another 11-2 surge and claimed a 32-15 advantage on Creek's layup with six minutes left before intermission.
The Cardinals would make just one more basket over the rest of the half and shot a woeful 20 percent (5-of-25) for the period, in which Indiana ripped off 14 of the final 15 points to take an insurmountable 50-19 advantage into the locker room.
Hulls led the way with 12 points on 5-of-5 shooting, with Sheehey adding 11 while knocking down 5-of-6 attempts.
Indiana stayed red-hot after the break, with the margin swelling over the 40- point mark when a 12-0 flurry highlighted by triples by Hulls and Oladipo padded the lead to 69-23 with still more than 13 1/2 minutes to play.
The Cardinals were never less than 39 points down the rest of the way.
