Description: The Raiders have released quarterback Matt Schaub.
Insight: No surprise here, as the move saves the team $5.5 million. Schaub should be able to latch on somewhere as a backup.
10/1/2014 8:36:00 PM
Description: Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub returned to the team on Wednesday.
Insight: He was absent from the team for two weaks while dealing with a family matter. Although Derek Carr thinks he will play, he is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, as well a sprained MCL. Those injuries take some time heal. As a result, Schaub could get his first start with the Raiders, coming off a bye in Week 6.

Description: Raiders backup quarterback Matt Schaub will not be available in Week 3, according to Vic Tafur of
Insight: Schaub had made the trip to New England, but an unknown emergency came up. Matt McGloin will be Derek Carr's backup.

Description: Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub said he was surprised and disappointed when rookie Derek Carr was announced as Oakland's starter for Week 1.
Insight: Derek Carr's great preseason had made him the front-runner for the starting job. Fantasy owners should still consider holding onto Schaub as there is no guarantee that Carr will keep the position. Playing well in preseason against vanilla defenses doesn't always translate to regular season success.

Description: Raiders head coach Dennis Allen is waiting for a Matt Schaub injury update before naming his Week 1 quarterback starter according to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune.
Insight: Schaub has a very minor elbow injury, but Derek Carr's great preseason has made him the front-runner for the starting job. We expect Carr to get the nod.
8/29/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub has been dealing with elbow soreness and a solid run by rookie Derek Carr has put put Schaub's Week 1 start in jeopardy.
Insight: Schaub has completed just 24-of-47 (51.1%) for 218 yards (4.6 ypa) with zero touchdowns and one interception this season. At this point I'd rather my fantasy roster had Carr over Schaub.

Description: Raiders quarterback Matt Schaub is dealing with elbow soreness, according to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune.
Insight: Schaub has completed just 24-of-47 (51.1%) for 218 yards (4.6 ypa) with zero touchdowns and one interception this season. He's looked as bad as his numbers suggest he's been. It won't be long before Derek Carr is starting for Oakland.

Description: The Raiders have acquired QB Matt Schaub from the Texans for a sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft, according to ESPN's Adam Schafter.
Insight: Schaub immediately becomes Oakland's No. 1 quarterback option with Terrelle Pryor as his main backup. His receivers are nothing special and it's unlikely Schaub will be coveted on fantasy draft day after his lousy 2013 campaign (14 INT, 73.0 QB rating in ten appearances).

Insight: Schaub imploded last season and with the Texans likely to draft a quarterback with the first pick, he shouldn't be in Houston for much longer. Schaub's best season came in 2009 when he led the league with 4,770 passing yards. That was also the year he made his only Pro Bowl appearance.
12/18/2013 5:20:00 PM
Description: Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will return to the starting job in Week 16 against Denver.
Insight: Case Keenum has been abysmal over the last few weeks and he suffered a thumb injury in Week 15. Schaub should not be trusted in any fantasy leagues.
12/6/2013 9:34:00 AM
Description: Texans quarterback Matt Schaub was good in a relief role going 17-of-29 for 198 yards one TD and one INT.
Insight: Case Keenum's great start seems such a long time ago. He's done little to assure that he will start any more games over the remainder of the season. It wouldn't surprise anyone if coach Gary Kubiak opts for the veteran over the final three games as he tries to save his own job.

Insight: Schaub hurt his ankle in last week's blowout loss to St. Louis. Former University of Houston standout Case Keenum will get the nod at quarterback for the Texans in Week 7.

Insight: The Houston quarterback suffered a leg injury Sunday against St. Louis. T.J. Yates is likely to start if Schaub is unable to play next week versus Kansas City.
10/13/2013 3:15:00 PM
Description: Texans QB Matt Schaub left Sunday's game against the Rams with a right leg injury.
Insight: Backup T.J. Yates promptly came in and threw a pick-six. It's been that kind of season for Houston. We should have an update on Schaub's status shortly.
10/13/2013 11:09:00 AM
Description: An NFL Network report suggests Houston quarterback Matt Schaub will be on a very short leash Sunday against St. Louis.
Insight: As he should be after throwing pick-sixes the last four weeks. T.J. Yates will be next in line should Schaub have another tough week.
Cold10/9/2013 7:54:00 PM
Description: ESPN's Tania Ganguli reports that Matt Schaub will start at quarterback this week against the Rams.
Insight: Schaub has had an horrendous season but head coach Gary Kubiak isn't ready to give up on him yet. If Schaub has another bad week, he could be benched for Week 7's matchup against the undefeated Chiefs.

Description: Matt Schaub isn't a lock to start next week's game versus St. Louis. SOURCE: Houston Chronicle
Insight: Head coach Gary Kubiak backtracked from his earlier stance that Schaub would remain the starter by saying, "I'm evaluating everything to see what gives us the best chance to win." Schaub is tied with Arizona's Carson Palmer for second in the league in interceptions with nine. Backup T.J. Yates could be worth an add if Schaub's struggles continue.
10/7/2013 11:40:00 AM
Description: Texans QB Matt Schaub will continue to start, according to coach Gary Kubiak.
Insight: Schaub set a record for futility with a fourth consecutive game throwing an interception for a touchdown. Kubiak's options are limited (T.J. Yates, Casey Keenum) and if the coach can help Schaub regain his confidence, he's still the team's best chance to win and go deep into the playoffs.
1/13/2013 9:41:00 PM
Description: Texans QB Matt Schaub threw for 343 yards Sunday against the Patriots.
Insight: Schaub's 25-yard strike to DeVier Posey in the fourth quarter was his first career postseason touchdown. He threw for another one six minutes later to cut New England's lead to just 10 points. Sunday was Schaub's third 300-yard game of the season and his first one since Thanksgiving.
1/5/2013 9:16:00 PM
Description: Houston quarterback Matt Schaub completed 29-of-38 passes for 262 yards and an interception Saturday in his first career playoff victory.
Insight: This wasn't Schaub's best effort but certainly the Texans (losers of three out of four to end the regular season) were happy to get the win. Next, Houston will head to Foxborough to take on the AFC East Champion Patriots. New England blew the Texans out when they played in Week 14 (42-14).
