Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Seager hit a three-run homer and ended with four RBI in the Seattle Mariners' 8-2 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
Mike Zunino added a solo homer and scored twice for the Mariners, who have won five in a row, including the first two of this three-game series. Endy Chavez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored.
Seattle starter Erasmo Ramirez allowed two runs on five hits with five walks over 4 1/3 innings. Joe Beimel (2-1) tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up the win.
Brock Holt went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer for the Red Sox, who have lost five of six. Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mike Napoli also had two hits in defeat.
Jake Peavy (1-6) got the start for Boston and gave up seven runs on eight hits over five innings. He hasn't won since April 25 at Toronto.
"I settled in and felt better. Then I got in trouble and made a bad pitch to Seager and the ball game got away," said Peavy.
After Boston left the bases loaded in the top of the first, the Mariners scored a pair of runs in the bottom half. Chavez led off with a single, moved to second on a James Jones walk and crossed the plate on Seager's double to right. Logan Morrison's sacrifice fly made it 2-0.
Seattle tacked on another run in the second. Brad Miller walked and raced home on Chavez's triple to right.
The Red Sox got within 3-2 on Holt's homer in the fourth. Bradley reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Holt's blast to right.
But the Mariners plated four runs in the fifth. Jones reached on a fielder's choice and Robinson Cano singled to put men on the corners with one out. Seager followed with a blast down the right-field line. After Morrison flied out, Zunino hit a solo homer to make it 7-2.
"Scoring a bunch of runs that inning took a little bit of pressure of a close ball game away," Zunino said.
Miller's RBI single in the eighth accounted for the final margin.
Peavy fell to 5-3 lifetime against the Mariners ... Boston went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and stranded 12 ... The Mariners have outscored the Red Sox by a 20-5 margin over the first two contests of this set.
