NC A&T names Lee head coach

Greensboro, NC (Sports Network) - North Carolina A&T State University has named Alonzo Lee Sr. as its new head football coach.

Lee spent the previous three seasons as Morgan State's defensive coordinator. Over the past two seasons, Lee's defenses have ranked among the top two in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision. This past season the Bears topped the nation in total defense among FCS teams. No squad gained more than 350 yards of offense against Morgan State in the last two campaigns.

The Aggies are trying to turn around a recent string of horrible years for the football program. NC A&T has gone 3-34 over the last three seasons.

The school fired coach Lee Fobbs, two days after the team's 42-7 loss at Delaware State on October 18. Fobbs was fired after he lost 28 of his first 30 games. George Ragsdale had been serving as the team's interim head coach.
