NCAA Game Summary - NC State at Duke

Durham, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Duke Blue Devils defeated the NC State Wolfpack 38-20 at Wallace Wade Stadium in an ACC matchup thanks to three second-half touchdowns from DeVon Edwards.
The Blue Devils (7-2, 3-2 ACC) were able to pull out a game against their ACC rival that was close until the end. Anthony Boone had 139 yards on 13-of-21 passing but also had three interceptions. Brandon Connette led the team in rushing with 40 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. Jamison Crowder had seven catches for 134 yards.
The Wolfpack (3-6, 0-6) suffered due to two late turnovers that led to scores. Brandon Mitchell had 148 yards and a touchdown along with two interceptions on 7-of-18 passing. Shadrach Thornton had 103 yards on 26 attempts. Quintin Payton led the team with 104 yards and a touchdown on three receptions.
Duke started the game fast by scoring first on the Wolfpack. The Blue Devils got into excellent field position after a 75-yard pass from Boone to Crowder took them to the NC State four-yard line. Boone then ran the ball in from four yards out for the touchdown and an early 7-0 lead.
Ross Martin connected on a 36-yard field goal with 8:14 in the half to extend the Blue Devils lead to 10-0.
With 8:46 left in the third quarter NC State was able to get on the scoreboard as Niklas Sade made a 29-yard field goal to make the score 10-3.
Rashard Smith went 73 yards for a touchdown on a punt return to tie the game at 10-10.
NC State would take its first lead of the game with 3:58 left in the third quarter as Sade hit a 24-yard field goal.
Duke answered right back by returning the ensuing kickoff for the score. Edwards did the work, taking the kick back 100 yards to put the Blue Devils up 17-13.
The visitors would regain the lead with 6:37 left as Mitchell completed an 80- yard touchdown pass to Payton.
The Blue Devils responded quickly. Connette had a five-yard rushing touchdown to put Duke up 24-20 with 3:31 left to play.
Edwards collected and returned two interceptions in back-to-back drives, the first from 25 yards out and the second from 45, to put an end to the Wolfpack's chances.
