GAME NOTES: The South Dakota State Jackrabbits have won four games in a row, and will seek a fifth as they travel to face the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks in Summit League action at Ralston Arena.

South Dakota State has won four in a row and five of its last seven games in Summit League play. The Jackrabbits are sitting at 6-3 in the conference, as they continue to chase North Dakota State. SDSU defeated IUPUI, 83-59, in a blowout win Saturday at home.

Nebraska Omaha is riding a momentum wave of its own, having won three games in a row and four of its last five. The Mavericks are coming off a 71-60 win over Western Illinois that improved their record to 4-4 in the conference standings.

South Dakota State leads the all-time series against Nebraska Omaha, 48-32. The Jackrabbits swept the season series a year ago, but lost at home to the Mavericks, 80-71, earlier this season.

South Dakota State jumped way out ahead of IUPUI at the end of the first half, holding a 42-27 advantage as the teams broke for the intermission. The Jackrabbits didn't stop there, outscoring the Jaguars 41-32 in the second half to earn the 24-point victory.Jordan Dykstra netted 17 points to pace the Jackrabbits, while Brayden Carlson chipped in 14 and Cody Larson added 13. South Dakota State shot 45.5 percent from the floor in the contest.

Dykstra leads the team in scoring this season with a 16.7 ppg average on 41 percent shooting from the floor. His 7.5 rpg mark is a team best, and his 85.7 percent free-throw shooting clip is better than anyone else's on the roster. Carlson is second in scoring at 15.3 ppg, and Larson checks in at third with 13.4 ppg. Carlson has dished out a team-high 67 assists on the year.

Nebraska Omaha played some stellar defense against a poor-shooting Western Illinois squad Saturday in the Mavericks' victory. Omaha held the Leathernecks to 32.7 percent shooting from the floor in the contest. Both John Karhoff and Justin Simmons netted 19 points to pace the Mavericks in the win, helped by 10 points from Mike Rostampour and C.J. Carter. Nebraska Omaha connected on 42.6 percent of its shots in the contest.

Carter and Karhoff share the team's scoring lead this season, as each is netting 13.7 ppg through 24 contests played. Karhoff, the center, is shooting 51.9 percent from the floor this season. Carter tops the team in assists with 87 on the year, and is second in teams steals with 31. Rostampour leads the Mavericks in rebounding with a 6.7 rpg average. Simmons checks in with an 11 ppg average - good for third on the team.

The fact that South Dakota State lost on its home floor to the Mavericks earlier this season is unusual, but Nebraska Omaha does sport the better overall record. Look for a back-and-forth battle, and expect a tight game.
