Piscataway, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - T.J. Bray scored 23 points and handed out eight assists to lead the Princeton Tigers to a 78-73 victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in an in-state rivalry battle at the RAC.
Bray nailed 5-of-7 shots from beyond the arc for Princeton (7-1), which has won six-straight games. Ben Hazel, Hans Brase and Denton Koon each scored 14 points as well.
Myles Mack connected on 8-of-16 attempts from the floor and finished with 21 points for Rutgers (4-7). Kadeem Jack tacked on 14 points and seven rebounds. The Scarlet Knights have lost four-straight.
During the first half the Tigers were effective from 3-point range, netting 7- of-18 attempts to claim a 33-31 lead at the break. Rutgers hit on 43.3 percent of its field goal attempts overall but had just three 3-pointers.
The success from beyond the arc continued for Princeton in the second half when it knocked down 9-of-16 tries from 3-point distance, part of a 56.5 percent shooting effort from the field. The Scarlet Knights shot at a 57.1 percent rate but couldn't keep up from beyond the arc, making only 4-of-11 attempts.
Rutgers doubled Princeton up in points in the paint (36-18). Of the 25 field goals the Tigers recorded, 16 came from 3-point range.
