Omaha, NE (SportsNetwork.com) - Doug McDermott scored 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds, as the Creighton Bluejays made quick work of the Arkansas- Pine Bluff Golden Lions, 88-51, in a non-conference clash at CenturyLink Center Omaha.
McDermott converted 5-of-11 shots from the field and knocked down all 13 of his chances at the free-throw line for the Bluejays (8-2), who picked up their third straight win after losing back-to-back outings against San Diego State and George Washington. Also scoring in double figures for Creighton were Ethan Wragge and Will Artino with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Golden Lions (2-8) were paced by Tevin Hammond who tallied 22 points, shooting 4-of-10 behind the 3-point line for a squad that has now suffered eight straight setbacks since opening the 2013-14 campaign with consecutive victories over Tuskegee and Morehouse.
Creighton scored the first points of the night and never looked back, shooting not only 50.0 percent from the field in the first half, but also 14-of-15 at the charity stripe in order to secure a 44-22 lead at the break.
In the second half it was more of the same for the Jays with 10-of-11 accuracy at the free-throw line, en route to the 37-point home win.
The Golden Lions finished the night shooting only 37.3 percent from the field, including 6-of-21 out on the perimeter, not to mention losing possession of the ball 15 times and being beaten on the glass by a 40-24 margin.
