Knoxville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - Jarnell Stokes had a game-high 19 points and 13 rebounds, as the Tennessee Volunteers cruised to an 84-63 win over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles in non-league play at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Jordan McRae added 16 points to help the Volunteers (6-2) notch their third consecutive victory. Josh Richardson and Jeronne Maymon scored 13 apiece in the win.
Jordan Johnson paced the Golden Eagles (5-6) with 15 points off the bench, while Ty Allen scored 14 points, and Jeremia Samarrippas finished with 10.
Tech shot 55.6 percent from the floor and made 8-of-11 3-pointers in the first half and led by as many as seven at the 7:00 mark. However, the Vols put together a late spurt and took a 41-40 lead into the break.
Tennessee dialed up the defensive pressure in the second stanza, holding the Golden Eagles to 38.5-percent shooting over the final 20 minutes.
UT used a 43-29 rebounding advantage to win for the 21st time in 22 meetings in the all-time series.
