Red Wings best Senators in Alfredsson's return

Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Drew Miller scored twice as Detroit took down Ottawa, 4-2, in Daniel Alfredsson's long-awaited return to his former hockey home.

Alfredsson was held off the scoreboard in his first game against the Sens, a 6-1 loss at Joe Louis Arena on Oct. 23 then missed a 4-2 defeat eight days ago.

On Sunday, he picked up an assist and an empty-net goal in 16:33 of playing time in front of a sellout crowd in Canada's capital which gave him a standing ovation.

Johan Franzen also lit the lamp and Jonas Gustavsson made 30 saves for the Red Wings, who have taken four in a row and five of their last six.

Clarke MacArthur and Mika Zibanejad tallied for the Senators, who stumbled to their sixth loss in eight. Robin Lehner stopped 19 pucks in defeat.
