Atlantic City, NJ (Sports Network) - Mark Lyons scored 12 points, including the game-winning layup with 21 seconds to play, as the third-seeded Xavier Musketeers defeated the sixth-seeded Dayton Flyers, 70-69, in an Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament quarterfinal matchup at Boardwalk Hall.

For the Musketeers (20-11), Tu Holloway led the way with 21 points, while Kenny Frease added 17 points. The Musketeers will take on Saint Louis in the semifinals on Saturday.

Kevin Dillard led the Flyers (20-12) with 18 points and six assists, while Paul Williams and Josh Parker each finished with 11 points.

Dayton shot 44.4 percent from the floor to open the game, including 6-of-14 from beyond the arc. The Flyers finished the half on a 16-8 run to take a 38-28 lead into intermission.

While Dayton struggled from the floor in the second half, shooting just 33.3 percent, Xavier heated up and connected on 56 percent of its field goal attempts. The Musketeers opened the half on a 21-7 run to go ahead 49-45. The game went back and forth for the majority of the second period. A 9-2 run by the Flyers put them up six, 69-63, with just over three minutes to play, but they would not score again. Xavier finished the contest on a 7-0 run, concluded by Lyons final basket. Dayton had two chances to take the lead in the final seconds, but Matt Kavanaugh missed a layup with six seconds left and Chris Johnson threw up an air ball with three seconds on the clock, and the Musketeers were able to hold on for the victory.

Dayton held a slight edge, 33-32, on the boards. The Flyers also converted 19- of-22 from the charity stripe while the Musketeers only made 18- of-29 at the free throw line.
