NCAA Game Summary - Utah State at Hawaii

(Saturday, March 3)

Final Score: Utah State 61, Hawaii 60

Honolulu, HI (Sports Network) - Morgan Grim's jumper with seven seconds remaining proved to be the difference as the Utah State Aggies slipped by the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, 61-60, in Western Athletic Conference action at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Grim finished with nine points on the night, none more important than the two that came from his late conversion that gave the win to the Aggies (17-14, 8-6 WAC). Leading the way on offense for the visitors were Brockeith Pane and Preston Medlin with 20 and 19 points, respectively. Kyisean Reed contributed with a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Warriors (15-15, 6-8) were paced by Joston Thomas with 19 points, followed by Jeremiah Ostrowski and Zane Johnson with 13 and 10 points, respectively.

USU led by as many as eight points in the first half, but the team shot just 4-of-14 behind the three-point line and 40.7 percent from the floor, leaving the Aggies behind by two at the break, 31-29.

In the second half both squads shot just under 48 percent from the floor and again the visitors had their issues on the perimeter (1-of-6), but Grim was there to hit what was to become the game-winner just the same.

Instead of calling a timeout following Grim's basket, the Warriors opted to rush the ball back down the floor, but the team never got off a shot because Ostrowski turned the ball over.

Utah State was lucky to pick up the win given that it shot just 12-of-26 at the free-throw line.
