=== Giants continue to blank Tigers after six innings of Game 3 ===
Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants' pitchers keep
getting the best of the Detroit Tigers' hitters during this World Series, with
the National League champions working on a shutout while holding a 2-0 lead
after six innings of Game 3.
The Tigers mustered just three runs and 10 hits in dropping the first two
matchups of the Fall Classic, both of which were held in San Francisco, but
haven't fared any better so far as the series shifted back to Detroit. They've
recorded five hits and four walks against the combination of Ryan Vogelsong
and Tim Lincecum, but have stranded seven baserunners and gone 0-for-4 with
 men in scoring position.
Vogelsong threw the first 5 2/3 innings before being removed after a two-out
walk to Andy Dirks, with Lincecum coming on to retire Delmon Young and keep
 the Tigers off the board.
San Francisco's only runs off Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez, who's struck out
seven through the first six frames, came in the top of the second.
Hunter Pence drew a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a stolen base
followed by a wild pitch, then crossed the plate when Gregor Blanco smacked a
triple into the gap in right-center field. Two batters later, Brandon
Crawford delivered a single to center field that brought home Blanco for a
 2-0 advantage.
Detroit put runners on first and second with one out in both the bottom of the
first and third, but Vogelsong induced double-play grounders to Prince Fielder
and Quintin Berry, respectively, to end each threat.
The Tigers would later load the bases with one out in the fifth on consecutive
singles by Omar Infante and Austin Jackson and a free pass to Austin Jackson,
but again came away empty. Vogelsong struck out Berry before getting AL Triple
Crown winner Miguel Cabrera to pop up for the final out.
