Description: The Seahawks have re-signed receiver Sidney Rice.
Insight: They brought him back on a one-year deal earlier this week. Rice could have a bigger role this season now that Golden Tate has moved on to play for the Lions. Of course, he'll need to get healthy first. Rice missed the second half of last season because of a torn ACL and isn't a lock for Week 1.

Description: Wide receiver Sidney Rice, formerly of Seattle, has been cleared for football activities by Dr. James Andrews.
Insight: Now he just needs to find a team to play for. Rice had a decent year in 2012 with Seattle, but hasn't been a valuable fantasy asset since 2009 when he caught 83 balls for 1,312 yards and eight scores for Minnesota.

Insight: The move was expected as it frees up $7.3 million in cap money for the Super Bowl champs. Rice scores a lot of touchdowns but his lack of yardage makes him a boom or bust fantasy player. It doesn't help that he's also recovering from a torn ACL. Rice is nothing more than a late round flyer at this point.

Insight: The Seahawks just won the title without Rice, so clearly he wasn't that important to the team's success. He'll try to catch on elsewhere, though that might be difficult while he's recovering from a torn ACL. Rice hasn't produced a 1,000-yard receiving season since 2009.

Insight: It's a blow to the team's receiving corps but with Percy Harvin set to return shortly, help is on the way. Rice will finish the 2013 campaign with 15 receptions, 231 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin should both see more targets in Rice's absence.

Description: Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice left Monday's game against the Rams due to a knee injury and is doubtful to return.
Insight: Rice saw three targets, including one in the end zone, but caught none. The minimal fantasy value he had will be lost in Week 9 when Percy Harvin returns.

9/4/2013 9:59:00 PM
Description: Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice put in a full practice Wednesday.
Insight: Rice had a procedure on his knee in Switzerland in early August, but he'll play in Week 1. Golden Tate is the Seahawks receiver to own and start against the Panthers Sunday.

8/28/2013 3:15:00 PM
Description: Seattle coach Pete Carroll expects wideout Sidney Rice (knee) to be ready for Week 1, according to a beat writer Bob Condotta.
Insight: Rice is as fragile as they come and any fantasy owner who takes a chance on him better be holding his lucky rabbit's foot. He caught 50 balls for 748 yards and seven touchdowns last season, but missed 17 of 32 games in the previous two campaigns.

Description: The first word of the season on Seattle wideout Sidney Rice, from coach Pete Carroll, isn't a good one - he went to Switzerland for treatment of his knee.
Insight: Carroll says he'll be ready for Week 1. Rice is as fragile as they come and any fantasy owner who takes a chance on him better be holding his lucky rabbit's foot. He caught 50 balls for 748 yards and seven touchdowns last season, but missed 17 of 32 games in the previous two campaigns.

12/28/2012 4:46:00 PM
Description: Seattle wideout Sidney Rice was a full participant in Friday's practice and has been upgraded to probable for Sunday against St. Louis.
Insight: Rice has been a bit beaten up over the second half of the season, but has played in all 15 games and put up 50 receptions for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.

Description: Seattle wideout Sidney Rice looks like he'll be able to play Sunday but the team will have him test his knee out before the game. SOURCE: John Boyle, Everett Herald
Insight: With Seattle hosting San Francisco on Sunday night, it's going to be too risky to rely on Rice in Week 16. Fantasy owners could maybe justify waiting for Rice if he was playing a lesser defense but the 49ers are quite formidable.

12/21/2012 9:46:00 PM
Description: Seattle wideout Sidney Rice is questionable for Sunday night's game against San Francisco.
Insight: Rice didn't practice this week because of a knee injury and it's looking like he'll be a true game-time call Sunday against the Niners. The 8:20 start time worries us, especially with no Monday night game this week to fall back on. With many fantasy championships hanging in the balance this week, there's just too much risk here. Even if he plays, there's no guarantee Rice would have a good game against San Francisco's fifth-ranked passing defense.

Description: Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice (bruised foot) didn't practice Thursday but coach Pete Carroll said he expects the receiver to play Sunday versus Buffalo. SOURCE: Dave Mahler, KJR
Insight: Rice (658 yds, 7 TDs) shed his walking boot Thursday. While a matchup against the Bills sounds enticing, Buffalo has actually been much improved against the pass in the second half of the season, so a hobbled Rice does not make for a strong play Sunday.

12/5/2012 4:40:00 PM
Description: Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice returned to the practice field on Wednesday, indicating that he has been cleared to play in Week 14.
Insight: Sunday's game will be against Arizona which means he'll face talented CB Patrick Peterson, so he may not be a great fantasy option.

12/4/2012 3:00:00 PM
Description: Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice is questionable for Sunday's game against Arizona and will have to pass the concussion protocol before being allowed to play.
Insight: Rice tweeted afterward that he passed all the concussion tests, but apparently that was a little premature. If he gets back on the field for Sunday's game with Arizona, he'll be severely tested by talented CB Patrick Peterson, so he may not be a great fantasy option.

12/3/2012 2:50:00 PM
Description: Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice is questionable for Sunday's game against Arizona after taking a blow to the head on the game-winning touchdown.
Insight: Rice tweeted afterward that he passed all the concussion tests. He'll be tested by talented CB Patrick Peterson next week, so he may not be a great fantasy option.

12/2/2012 12:04:00 PM
Description: As expected, Seahawks receiver Sidney Rice is active for Sunday's game against Chicago.
Insight: Rice had been listed as questionable because of a calf injury. The Bears are sixth in the NFL in passing defense and Rice has recorded just five catches in his last two games. We're not expecting this to be one of Rice's better fantasy weeks.

12/2/2012 11:06:00 AM
Description: Seattle wideout Sidney Rice, who was held out at the end of practice Friday due to tightness in his calf, is expected to play, according to an NFL Network report.
Insight: Rice should be able to play Sunday against the Bears. His value is almost entirely dependent on whether he finds the end zone, which limits him to WR3 status, and it might be asking a lot of him to score at Chicago this week.

Description: Seattle wideout Sidney Rice caught two touchdowns in Sunday's game against the Jets, his third straight game with at least one score.
Insight: Rice is averaging 68.6 yards per game over the last five games and he's caught five TD passes in that span. He's a viable WR3 in fantasy leagues.
