Cutler leaves game vs. Redskins

Landover, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago Bears starting quarterback Jay Cutler left Sunday's 45-41 defeat against the Redskins in the second quarter and did not return thanks to a groin injury.

Cutler dropped back and was sacked by Washington's Chris Baker early in the period. After being down on the turf, Cutler limped off under his own power. He was unable to make it all the way to the locker room, however, and had to be taken the rest of the way on a cart.

"I'm just hopeful that it's not too serious," Bears head coach Marc Trestman said of Cutler's injury. "This bye comes at a great time because he'll have a chance to heal up."

The Vanderbilt product completed only three of his eight attempts for 28 yards and one interception.

Josh McCown subbed under center, finishing the contest at 14-of-20 efficiency for 204 yards and a TD pass to Martellus Bennett which gave Chicago a 41-38 advantage inside of four minutes remaining.
