Insight: Bruce scored on Zack Cozart's sacrifice fly in the second inning. Bruce is only hitting .216 this season, but he is 11-for-22 in his last six games. Bruce also has seven home runs and 19 RBI in 139 at-bats.

Cold5/15/2015 2:48:00 PM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce is not in Friday's starting lineup
Insight: Bruce doesn't have a good past history versus Giants Madison Bumgarner. Of course, a lot of guys can say that.

Cold5/7/2015 10:20:00 AM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce is just 3-for-29 (.103) with 11 strikeouts versus Pirates starter A.J. Burnett.
Insight: Bruce is 1-for-12 over the past three games and could get a day off. Even if he plays, he shouldn't be in your fantasy lineup.

4/29/2015 10:38:00 AM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce could be in line for a string Game Wednesday versus Milwaukee.
Insight: Bruce will go up against Matt Garza, who he is 9-for-25 lifetime against, with three doubles, two homers, and six RBI.

4/27/2015 9:55:00 PM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce smacked a three-run homer Monday against the Brewers.
Insight: He also walked three times and scored two runs. Bruce is batting just .175 but does have four homers and 12 RBI.

4/26/2015 11:13:00 AM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce is not in Sunday's starting lineup versus the Cubs and Jake Arrieta.
Insight: Bruce is a career 2-for-11 with six strikeouts against Arrieta, so manager Bryan Price has elected to give Bruce the day off. Brennan Boesch is starting in right field for the Reds.

4/25/2015 10:40:00 AM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce is not in Saturday's starting lineup versus the Cubs and Jake Arrieta.
Insight: Bruce is a career 2-for-11 with six strikeouts against Arrieta and combined with a slow start (.164 this season) has earned him a day of rest.

4/17/2015 11:30:00 AM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce should be avoided on Friday night against the Cardinals and Michael Wacha.
Insight: Bruce is hitless in 16 at-bats against Wacha and struck out in half those at-bats. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

4/12/2015 5:24:00 PM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce smacked a homer Sunday against St. Louis.
Insight: Bruce has just a .200/.360/.500 line early this year, but does have two homers through six games. The power will be there for him.

4/9/2015 10:12:00 AM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce is just 3-for-27 (.111) with 10 strikeouts against Pirates right-hander A.J. Burnett.
Insight: Bruce usually hits right-handers better than lefties (.262 vs. .226), but this is an exception to the rule. The Reds left-handed slugger homered on Opening Day as he tries to rebound from a disappointing 2014. Thursday is probably a day for fantasy owners to look elsewhere.

4/6/2015 7:33:00 PM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce went 1-for-2 with a solo bomb against the Pirates on Opening Day.
Insight: The Sports Network has Bruce has a big bounce back candidate this season, and this is a great way for Bruce to start 2015.

4/6/2015 10:39:00 AM
Description: Reds outfielder Jay Bruce is a career 0-for-16 with six strikeouts against Pirates starter Francisco Liriano.
Insight: Bruce hit just .217/.281/.373, but he is one of The Sports Network's bounce back candidates this season. It just isn't likely to start on opening day against Liriano. Sit him.

3/11/2015 2:57:00 PM
Description: The Reds scratched outfielder Jay Bruce from Wednesday's lineup due to a strained right calf.
Insight: Bruce hit just .217/.281/.373, but he is one of The Sports Network's bounce back candidates this season. As long as he is healthy, he could be a fantasy sleeper.

9/27/2014 10:05:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is a good choice to sit Saturday as he's hitless in 16 at-bats against Pittsburgh left-hander Francisco Liriano.
Insight: Bruce's numbers are down this year. He is still two home runs shy of 20 on the year, which he has reached in each of his first six seasons, and well of the 30 plus homers he's mashed the past three seasons. Bruce is batting .217 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI this season.

9/25/2014 4:04:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce went 3-for-4 with a RBI and run as the Reds defeated the Brewers, 5-3, on Thursday.
Insight: Bruce has been down this year overall, but he had a good Thursday. He is still two home runs shy of 20 on the year, which he has reached in each of his first six seasons. Bruce is batting .219 with 18 home runs and 66 RBI this season.

9/21/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is a career .480 (12-for-25) hitter with two home runs, two triples, a double and eight RBI against Cardinals starter Lance Lynn in his career.
Insight: Bruce was likely on your bench on Saturday as he was 0-for-11 against Michael Wacha in his career coming into the game. Bruce should go back into the lineup with this favorable matchup on Sunday.

9/20/2014 10:22:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce is a "must sit' Saturday against Cardinals right-hander Michael Wacha.
Insight: Bruce is 0-for-11 with seven strikeouts in their matchups. He's had an off season in 2014 and is unlikely to crack the 20-home run mark this season (he's got 16 at the moment) after three consecutive 30-homer seasons.

9/17/2014 3:59:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce getting the night off on Wednesday.
Insight: Bruce is one of many Reds not in the lineup after a weak effort against Jake Arrieta Tuesday night in which they were one-hit. He's had an off season and is unlikely to crack the 20-home run mark this season after three consecutive 30-homer seasons.

9/15/2014 4:32:00 PM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce getting the night off on Monday.
Insight: It's just a routine night off against Cubs' lefty Travis Wood. Bruce has been extremely disappointing this season (.215 BA, 16 HR, 61 RBI, .284 OBP), but always has the potential to leave the yard. He should be back in the lineup tomorrow.

9/14/2014 11:32:00 AM
Description: Reds right fielder Jay Bruce has eight hits, including two home runs in 22 career at-bats against Brewers pitcher Matt Garza.
Insight: Bruce is hitting just .214 this year with 16 home runs and 61 RBI, but this is a very favorable matchup for him.
