| ||Andy North and Tom Watson closed with an eight-under 64, their worst score of
the week, to hold off Jeff Sluman and Craig Stadler for a one-shot win at the
Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf last year. North and Watson opened with a
13-under 59 in the first round -- the only duo to break 60 for the week.
Aside from that, two others teams posted 60s, including the team of Sandy
Lyle and Ian Woosnam, who finished in third place. This event has three
different team competitions during the week with the Legends Division being
the official event for the week. The format is better ball over 54 holes.
Both winners get an official victory. Watson and North will defend their
title against 31 other teams, including six that have at least one Masters
champion on their team. Former Masters winners in the field include Lyle,
Woosnam, Bernhard Langer, Larry Mize, Mark O`Meara, Craig Stadler and Fuzzy
Zoeller. There will be two hours of coverage each day. The Golf Channel has
Friday`s action, while CBS takes over for the final two rounds. The Champions
Tour takes two weeks off before returning with the Regions Charity Classic,
where Andy Bean won last year.
