Charlotte to introduce head coach on Tuesday

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Charlotte is expected to introduce Wake Forest defensive coordinator Brad Lambert on Tuesday as the head coach of its football program which begins play in 2013.

The university scheduled a news conference on campus to introduce the new head coach. The University Times, Charlotte's student newspaper, and the Charlotte Observer reported on their websites Monday that the 46-year-old Lambert has been hired for the position. He has coached at Wake Forest since 2001, including as defensive coordinator since 2008.

Lambert, who does not have head coaching experience, will bring in his first recruiting class next year.

Charlotte will begin play at the FCS level against Campbell on Aug. 31, 2013. The 49ers are expected to move up to the FBS in a future season.
