Grambling State star Anthony still hospitalized
Grambling, LA (Sports Network) - Grambling State senior defensive end Christian Anthony remains hospitalized in stable condition after being admitted last week for chest pains, a university spokesperson said on Monday.
Third-year football coach Rod Broadway said Anthony first complained of chest pains Thursday afternoon.
On Monday, Roderick Mosley, the university's sports information director, said Anthony was in good spirits.
Anthony was the 2009 Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and made The Sports Network All-America First Team. He was fourth in the voting for the Buck Buchanan Award which honors the top defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision.
The 6-foot-4, 275-pound senior from Birmingham, Ala., was third in the Southwestern Athletic Conference in sacks (eight), second in tackles for loss (15), first in both forced fumbles (five) and fumbles recovered (three), and was the only defensive lineman in the FCS with five interceptions - two of them going for touchdowns.
