Collins named interim head coach at Alcorn State
Lorman, MS (Sports Network) - Alcorn State announced on Friday that Earnest Collins, Jr. became its interim head football coach.
Collins actually took over on Thursday for Earnest Jones, who was removed as head coach after the just-completed season.
Collins moves up to the head position only one season after arriving at the school. In 2008, he had been defensive coordinator/associate head coach. Prior to that, the graduate of the University of Northern Colorado spent one year as secondary coach at Central Florida.
Collins has also coached at Northwest Missouri State, Northern Colorado and Kansas.
Playing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference of the FCS, the Braves went 2-10, and 1-6 last season in conference and finished in a tie for last in the SWAC East.
