NCAA Game Summary - NC State at Connecticut
(Saturday, September 8th)
Final Score: NC State 10, Connecticut 7
Hartford, CT (Sports Network) - The NC State Wolfpack rode a solid defensive
effort to a 10-7 victory over Connecticut in a non-conference tilt at
Rentschler Stadium.
Mike Glennon overcame six sacks to throw for 204 yards and a touchdown,
helping the Wolfpack (1-1) rebound from last week's loss to Tennessee.
Chandler Whitmer had a tough day under center for the Huskies (1-1), as he
completed just 15-of-27 passes and was intercepted three times, while also
taking three sacks.
Wolfpack kicker Niklas Sade accounted for the only points of the first half
with a 40-yard field goal late in the second quarter.
NC State extended its lead to 10-0 midway through the third quarter, as
Glennon hooked up with Bryan Underwood for a 46-yard scoring strike.
UConn finally got on the scoreboard at the 7:00 mark of the fourth quarter,
when Lyle McCombs found pay dirt on a five-yard run. The Huskies got the ball
back once more at their own 27-yard line with 3:17 remaining but were unable
to cross midfield.
NC State's defense forced four turnovers for the game and held UConn to 2-
of-12 on third down, atoning for a lackluster day by the Wolfpack offense.
