NCAA Game Summary - Arkansas at Mississippi State

Starkville, MS (Sports Network) - Tyler Russell threw for 274 yards and four
touchdowns, as the Mississippi State Bulldogs cruised to a 45-14 win over the
Arkansas Razorbacks in Southeastern Conference play at Davis Wade Stadium.
Chad Bumphis and LaDarius Perkins each caught two touchdown passes for the
Bulldogs (8-3, 4-3 SEC), who snapped a three-game slide.
The Razorbacks (4-7, 2-5) trailed by only three points at halftime, but they
let the game get out of hand in the second half and were eliminated from bowl
contention. Tyler Wilson completed 23-of-29 passes for 225 yards and two
touchdowns, although he was also intercepted twice.
Mississippi State opened the contest with a 15-play, 75-yard drive, which
culminated with Russell's 13-yard touchdown pass to Perkins.
Arkansas answered with an 11-play, 86-yard drive, capped by Wilson's 30-yard
TD pass to Cobi Hamilton.
The Razorbacks took a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, as Wilson found
Dennis Johnson for a seven-yard scoring strike.
However, the Bulldogs would respond with 38 unanswered points to turn a tight
contest into a blowout. Devon Bell kicked a 39-yard field goal at the 9:38
mark of the second quarter, and Russell later hooked up with Bumphis for a
six-yard touchdown pass and a 17-14 lead with just under five minutes to play
in the half.
The score would remain that way until the 5:51 mark of the third quarter, when
Dak Prescott's four-yard run gave Mississippi State a 24-14 advantage.
Perkins caught another touchdown pass later in the same frame, this time from
24 yards. Bumphis hauled in his second TD on a 22-yard pass from Russell in
the opening minute of the fourth quarter, as the Bulldogs pushed their lead to
38-14. Two minutes later, Nick Griffin broke loose for a 60-yard touchdown run
to put a stamp on Mississippi State's victory.
With the victory, the Bulldogs ended a three-game losing streak against
Arkansas as they outgained the Razorbacks, 505-359.
