Bowling Green, OH (Sports Network) - Chand Harnish threw for 294 yards, ran
for 151 and accounted for three touchdowns, as Northern Illinois moved one
step closer to a division title with a 45-14 rout over Bowling Green.
Northern Illinois (7-3, 5-1 MAC) won its fifth straight behind Harnish and
Willie Clark, who caught four passes for 109 yards and two scores.
Matt Schilz threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns for Bowling Green (4-6,
2-4), which has lost five of its last six games. Kamar Jorden caught eight
passes for 152 yards and both touchdowns in defeat.
Bowling Green lit up the scoreboard first with an 83-yard quick strike from
Schilz to Jorden, but Northern Illinois answered 34 seconds later as Harnish
dialed up a 56-yard strike to Clark. After falling behind, the Huskies rattled
off the next 24 points to take control.
After the quick strike, Northern Illinois turned to the ground, churning out
first downs on a 13-play, 63-yard march that ended with Jasmin Hopkins' one-
yard plunge. Mathew Sims' 23-yard boot made the score 17-7, and the Huskies
added another score with 1:21 left in the half thanks to Akeem Daniels' two-
yard TD burst.
Bowling Green went into the locker room on a positive note, moving 64 yards in
just over one minute and finishing off the eight-play march with a 13-yard
scoring pass from Schilz to Jorden.
The second half belonged to the Huskies, as the defense pinned its ears back
and the offense added several insurance scores. Harnish's 79-yard TD toss to
Daniels made the score 31-14, then Harnish showed off his legs with a five-
yard scoring scamper with just over 12 minutes left in the contest.
The final score came on Jordan Lynch's 37-yard touchdown pass to Clark.
