College Park, MD (Sports Network) - Christian Ponder threw for 170 yards and a
touchdown and Nick Moody scored on a late interception return as the Florida
State Seminoles got past the Maryland Terrapins by a 30-16 final in ACC
Chris Thompson ran for 95 yards and a score on only eight carries for Florida
State (8-3, 6-2 ACC).
Danny O'Brien threw for 269 yards and a touchdown in defeat for Maryland (7-4,
4-3), but the quarterback threw two costly interceptions, one of which was
returned for a game-saving touchdown.
Maryland scored the game's first points on a 31-yard field goal by Travis
Florida State fought back to grab a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
After a 70-yard touchdown scamper by Thompson, Dustin Hopkins booted a 37-yard
Maryland then scored 10 unanswered points to regain the lead at 13-10.
O'Brien's seven-yard touchdown pass to Will Yeatman was followed by a 32-yard
field goal by Baltz.
The Seminoles managed to knot the score at 13-13 with 32 seconds remaining in
the first half on a 30-yard field goal by Hopkins.
In the third quarter, the Terps grabbed a 16-13 edge on another 32-yard field
goal by Baltz, but FSU answered right back to take a 20-16 lead on a 44-yard
touchdown strike from Ponder to Bert Reed.
FSU tallied the only points of the fourth quarter to seal the win, as a 34-
yard Hopkins field goal was followed by the 96-yard interception return for a
touchdown by Moody. That play by Moody was huge, as Maryland was on the verge
of at least tying the contest.
Maryland lost despite a 432-354 edge in total yardage.
