Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Bo Levi Mitchell connected on 17-of-29 passes for 266 yards and two touchdowns to lead the SMU Mustangs to a 28-21 victory over the East Carolina Pirates in Conference USA action.

Aldrick Robinson had four catches for 125 yards for SMU (3-2, 2-0 C-USA), and his 96-yard touchdown reception tied a program record.

Dominique Lindsay ran for 144 yards in defeat for East Carolina (3-3, 2-1), which had a five-game conference winning streak halted.

Neither team was able to score in the first quarter, as both defenses started strong.

East Carolina struck first in the contest, as Dwayne Harris found the end zone on a 10-yard run with 10:26 remaining in the second quarter.

SMU tied the score at 7-7 with just under four minutes remaining in the first half on a 63-yard return of a blocked field goal by Bryan McCann.

The Mustangs scored two more touchdowns early in the third quarter to grab a 21-7 lead. After the 96-yard touchdown pass from Mitchell to Robinson, Rock Dennis returned an interception 53 yards for a score.

The Pirates cut their deficit to 21-14 late in the third quarter on a two-yard touchdown plunge by Giavani Ruffin.

Mitchell threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Terrance Wilkerson with 5:02 remaining in the contest to make the score 28-14 in favor of the Mustangs. The Pirates came right back with a 77-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Harris, but ECU was unable to score again.

SMU managed to win the game despite rushing for only 28 yards on 21 attempts.
