Football Bowl Subdivision
NCAA Game Summary - Florida State at North Carolina State

(Thursday, October 16th)

Final Score: Florida State 26, North Carolina State 17

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Christian Ponder threw for 254 yards and a touchdown and Antone Smith scored on his 89-yard rushing night, as Florida State took a conference clash from North Carolina State, 26-17.

Preston Parker caught five of Ponder's passes for 56 yards and Bert Reed hauled in a scoring strike for the Seminoles (5-1, 2-1 ACC), who still haven't beaten a club with a winning record this season.

Russell Wilson finished 13-of-25 for 181 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 33 yards for the Wolfpack (2-5, 0-3), who continued to struggle and not build momentum from their uplifting victory over then-ranked East Carolina earlier this season.

Jamelle Eugene carried the football just six times for 74 yards and Andre Brown had twice as many carries for 50 yards. The Wolfpack averaged 7.1 yards per carry and 7.2 yards per play overall to just 4.9 yards per play for the Seminoles, but still ended up on the short end of the contest.

The Wolfpack took an early 10-0 lead after Josh Czajkowski's 24-yard field goal and Wilson's 20-yard scoring strike to Anthony Hill.

However, the Seminoles cut the deficit with a pair of Graham Gano field goals, both from 37 yards out. Smith's 27-yard burst gave FSU its first lead early in the third, but Wilson's 67-yard touchdown pass to Owen Spencer again gave North Carolina State the edge in the fourth.

Florida State eventually pulled away, as Ponder threw a 17-yard TD pass to Reed and Gano added 44 and 53-yard field goals to ice the contest.
