NCAA Game Summary - NC State at Clemson

Clemson, SC (Sports Network) - Cullen Harper threw for 262 yards and a pair of
touchdowns, as the Clemson Tigers downed the NC State Wolfpack, 27-9, in ACC
play at Memorial Stadium.
Harper completed 20-of-28 pass attempts and was intercepted once, as Clemson
(2-1, 1-0 ACC) defeated NC State for the fifth straight time. Jacoby Ford was
a big target, pulling down six balls for 106 yards and a score. C.J. Spiller
paced the ground attack with 61 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and he
also had four receptions for 35 yards and another score.
Russell Wilson and Harris Beck both saw time under center for the Wolfpack
(1-2, 0-1), but neither was effective. The duo combined for just 152 yards and
a two interceptions on 15-of-29 tosses. Andre Brown led the way with 64
rushing yards on 14 totes and he also snared a team-high four passes for 51
yards.
It took NC State just seven seconds to strike, as Nate Irving picked off
Harper on the first play from scrimmage and returned it 33 yards for a
touchdown. The extra-point, though, was blocked.
Clemson responded on its ensuing possession and put together a nine-play, 76-
yard drive that was capped with a 16-yard scoring strike from Harper to Ford.
Just under five minutes into the second quarter the Tigers made it 10-6 with a
22-yard field goal by Mark Buchholz. Less than three minutes later Clemons
added to its advantage courtesy of a Harper 28-yard touchdown pass to Spiller.
The Wolfpack made it a 17-9 game late in the third quarter behind a 22-yard
field goal by Josh Czajkowski.
Clemson responded early in the fourth quarter with a 31-yard field goal by
Buchholz.
The Tigers put the game away with a 13-play, 96-yard drive that spanned over
eight minutes and was finished with a 12-yard touchdown run by Spiller with
just over a minute left.
Clemson rolled up 428 yards of total offense in the game, while limiting NC
State to just 288 yards.
