NCAA Game Summary - Boston College at NC State

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Chris Crane score five total touchdowns to lead the Boston College Eagles to a thrilling, 38-31 victory over the NC State Wolfpack in ACC play at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Crane threw for an impressive 428 yards and two touchdowns for Boston College (4-1, 1-1 ACC), but the quarterback also led the ground game with 42 yards and three more scores. Rich Gunnell was Crane's main target, as the wide out finished with 11 receptions, 123 yards and one touchdown in the win.

As for NC State (2-4, 0-2), Russell Wilson threw for just 218 yards and one touchdown in the loss. The TD pass went to Owen Spencer, who finished with three receptions and 102 yards.

The Eagles jumped out to an early 7-0 lead when Crane hit Justin Jarvis with a 41-yard scoring strike.

NC State evened the score at 7-7 with a 10-yard touchdown scamper by Wilson.

Boston College answered back immediately, as Crane found Gunnell with a 12- yard touchdown pass, giving the Eagles a 14-7 edge.

Crane continued his strong first quarter with a five-yard touchdown run in the final seconds of the frame.

However, the Wolfpack wasted no time with their response, as T. J. Graham returned the ensuing kick off 100 yards, cutting NC State's deficit to 21-14.

The second quarter was not as entertaining as Josh Czajkowski's 22-yard field goal was the only points posted, sending the Wolfpack into the break down 21-17.

Early in the third frame Crane found the end zone once again, scoring from the one-yard line, while extending Boston College's advantage to 28-17.

Steve Aponavicius chipped in a 17-yard field goal early in the final frame, pushing BC's advantage to 31-17.

The Pack needed just one play on their next possession, as Wilson connected with Spencer on a 61-yard scoring strike.

Wilson added a two-yard touchdown run late in the final frame to even the score at 24-24.

However, Crane would have the last laugh, as the quarterback crossed the goal line on a 13-yard run with just seconds remaining in regulation. Crane's fifth touchdown of the contest was the deciding factor, as the Eagles were able to hold on for the seven-point victory.
