Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bishop Sankey rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown as the Washington Huskies earned a 27-17 victory over the rival Washington State Cougars to secure the Apple Cup at Husky Stadium.
Sankey ran the ball 34 times for Washington (8-4, 5-4 Pac-12) while Keith Price threw for 181 yards, a score and an interception on 15-of-20 passing. Austin Seferian-Jenkins hauled in two of those passes for 52 yards and a touchdown. The victory gives Washington eight wins in a season for the first time since 2001.
Connor Halliday threw for 282 yards and had two touchdowns to match two interceptions for Washington State (6-6, 4-5 Pac-12). Halliday completed 32- of-59 passes with a nine players making at least one reception. Marcus Mason rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries as well.
Travis Coons got Washington out to a 3-0 lead when he knocked in a 48-yard field goal early in the first quarter.
The Cougars evened the score at 3-3 with a 49-yard field goal from Andrew Furney in the beginning of the second period.
A 14-yard touchdown pass from Halliday to Rickey Galvin earned the Cougars a 10-3 lead at halftime.
The Huskies owned the third quarter to claim the lead once again. Seferian- Jenkins brought in an eight-yard touchdown pass from Price and Sankey added a seven-yard touchdown run. Coons contributed to the third quarter scoring with a 39-yard field goal.
A five-yard touchdown pass from Halliday to Dominique Williams pulled the Cougars to within three points but Price sealed the deal for Washington with a two-yard rushing touchdown with just over two minutes to play.
The Huskies finished with 405 total yards despite running nine fewer plays than the Cougars (82-73). Washington State picked up 326 total yards.
