GAMES NOTES: After snapping a losing streak on Saturday, the Wofford Terriers will attempt to get a win streak going when they visit the Furman Paladins in a Southern Conference battle at Timmons Arena.

The Terriers had lost three straight games before topping Georgia Southern, 71-53, at home. Wofford has managed to string back-to-back wins together twice this season and is now 7-9 overall. That has included a woeful 2-8 mark on the road and a 1-2 ledger against conference foes. Wofford finishes up this quick two-game road stint on Saturday against Elon.

The Paladins were not so fortunate in their matchup with Davidson on Saturday. Furman lost 81-73 as it dropped its sixth straight contest and fell to just 3-11 overall. Furman is winless in all three of its league matchups and is just 3-4 at Timmons Arena. The Paladins will get a look at Elon before Wofford as they will battle the Phoenix on Thursday.

Wofford has won three straight and seven of the last eight matchups with Furman, including a series sweep last year. Still, the Paladins still lead the all-time series, 82-47.

In its victory over Georgia Southern, Wofford shot an even 45 percent from the field and outscored the Eagles 21-9 from beyond the arc. The Terriers also forced 15 turnovers in the contest and owned a 38-26 edge on the boards.

The 71 points that Wofford scored against Georgia Southern was the most points scored by the Terriers since netting 70 in a win over Winthrop at the end of November. Wofford is scoring just 59.1 points per game, while shooting at a 38.9 percent clip. Both of those marks rank dead last in the SoCon. The reason the Terriers have still managed to remain around .500 on the season is due to their defensive efforts. The team is letting up just 58.6 points per game on 42.3 percent shooting. The trio of Karl Cochran (16.2 ppg), Lee Skinner (11.2 ppg, 7.3 rpg) and Spencer Collins (10.8 ppg) have accounted for the bulk of the scoring. Cochran is the fourth-best scorer in the conference, while Skinner ranks at the same spot in rebounding.

It was the Paladins' shooting from beyond the arc that sank it against Davidson. Furman hit on 6-of-17 shots from 3-point range, while Davidson knocked down 10-of-23 long range attempts. A 17-7 deficit in points off turnovers also hurt Furman.

Furman has been scoring a bit better than Wofford this season but certainly isn't one of the better offensive teams in the conference. The Paladins are netting just 60.7 points per game, while shooting just below 40 percent from the floor. Only Colin Reddick (12.1 ppg, 6.3 rpg) is scoring in double figures for Furman, but six players are scoring at least seven points per game. Reddick has scored in double figures in five of the last six games, including a season-high 25 points in a four-point loss to College of Charleston. Stephen Croone (8.5 ppg, 4.4 apg) is the second option.

Though Wofford has a stronger stable of scorers the balance that Furman possesses could help the Paladins in one of what looks to be a few winnable games left on the schedule.
