GAME NOTES: Garden State rivals meet on Friday night, as the Rutgers Scarlet Knights come calling on the Princeton Tigers.

Rutgers has split its first two games of the season, both of which took place at home, dropping a 56-52 decision to Saint Peter's in the opener before routing Sacred Heart in an 88-62 final on Monday. The Scarlet Knights will kick off Big East Conference play at Syracuse on Jan. 2, 2013.

Princeton is historically one of the top teams in the Ivy league, but the Tigers too are 1-1 on the young season after winning their opener at Buffalo (57-53) and losing at home to Northeastern (67-66) on Tuesday. Princeton will play another Big East foe next week, taking on Syracuse on the road, and it will open Ivy action at home versus rival Penn on Jan. 12, 2013.

The all-time series between these two teams favors Princeton, 74-44, and the Tigers have won the last two meetings.

Wally Judge notched his second double-double in as many games, scoring 11 points while grabbing 10 rebounds as he helped Rutgers beat Sacred Heart earlier in the week. Other standout performers included Eli Carter (18 points), Dane Miller (14 points, seven rebounds) and Myles Mack (14 points). The Scarlet Knights shot 54.4 percent from the field and dished out 20 assists, while limiting the Pioneers to 36.4 percent shooting, which included a 5-of-18 showing from beyond the arc. RU dominated the interior, scoring 56 points in the paint and blocking 10 shots, six of which were credited to Kadeem Jack in just 15 minutes of action off the bench. Judge was the team's only double-digit scorer in the season-opening loss to Saint Peter's.

The Tigers saw an 18-point lead in the second half evaporate against Northeastern the last time out, as the Huskies scored with only two seconds left in regulation to pull out the unlikely win. Ian Hummer, a First-Team All- Ivy pick last season and favorite for Ivy League Player of Year this time around, scored a career-high tying 25 points for Princeton, and he added six rebounds, all on the offensive glass, while also handing out five assists. Clay Wilson chipped in 12 points off the bench, while Will Barrett scored 11 points. The Tigers lost the game despite shooting 47.3 percent from the floor, as the Huskies made good on 57.5 percent of their total shots, which included an 8-of-11 effort from long range. Barrett was high man of the Tigers in their season opener at Buffalo, netting 20 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Hummer had 12 points and seven assists, and Wilson finished with 11 points.

Princeton has the obvious advantage of playing this game at home, and the Tigers should be able to get enough from their core of solid players to earn a hard-fought victory over a long-time rival.
