GAME NOTES: Winners of their last three games, the Davidson Wildcats host the Elon Phoenix in a Southern Conference tilt a Belk Arena on Thursday night.

Elon has won two straight, most recently defeating The Citadel Bulldogs, 74-65, last Saturday.

In its last outing, Davidson downed the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 78-66, at Belk Arena, also on Saturday. That was the third straight victory for the Wildcats, who appear to have righted the ship after suffering a five-game losing streak that preceded their current string of success.

This the 50th all-time meeting between Elon and Davidson. The Wildcats lead the series, 37-12, and have won the last four meetings, including the only matchup last year, a 69-63 verdict at Elon. Davidson is 9-0 all-time at Belk Arena.

Lucas Troutman scored 19 points and brought down nine rebounds as the Phoenix defeated The Citadel. Jack Isenbarger scored 15 points for Elon, while Sebastian Koch chipped in 14 points and Austin Hamilton dished out six assists.

Elon can also inflict some damage from the perimeter as it currently tops the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.394), and is tied for first in threes made (147). Sebastian Koch (51) and Tanner Samson (48) rank first and second in the league in the latter category, while both are in the top-five in the league in 3-point percentage. The squad also paces the conference in field goal percentage (.483) and free-throw percentage (.725) Down low, Lucas Troutman leads the way with a team-best 15.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per tilt, while Koch (13.0 ppg), Sampson (10.5 ppg) and Ryley Beaumont (10.3 ppg) all average double figures in scoring.

De'Mon Brooks scored 19 points to lead the Wildcats in their recent victory over the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Tyler Kalinoski contributed 16 points for Davidson and Chris Czerapowicz had 14. Tom Droney handed out seven assists. Leading by just one at halftime, 35-34, the Wildcats heated up to 66.7 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes to pull away for the win.

SoCon Preseason Player of the Year Brooks, a 52.5 percent shooter from the floor, paces the squad in both scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg). The backcourt trio of Brian Sullivan (12.2 ppg), Droney (11.6 ppg) and Kalinoski (11.0 ppg) all average double figures. Kalinoski has been the most effective from 3-point range, where he is shooting at a 48.1 percent clip (26- of-54), good for second in the league.

Both teams come into this contest riding winning streaks, but the Wildcats would seem to have more weapons at their disposal, especially in the friendly confines of Belk Arena. Expect them to make it four in a row with a win over the Phoenix.
