GAME NOTES: The Eastern Michigan Eagles put a two-game win streak to the test as they host the Akron Zips in Mid-American Conference action at the Convocation Center.

Akron had a five-game win streak snapped by Toledo in the team's most recent outing, 75-61, which was the Zips' first conference loss of the season. Akron and Eastern Michigan not only have identical 3-1 conference records, but has matching 11-6 overall records as well.

Eastern Michigan will try to extend its short winning streak as they host the Zips, who are tied for the MAC East Division lead. The Eagles are tied for the West Division MAC lead entering this contest. Eastern Michigan pulled out a 72-59 victory over Central Michigan in the team's last contest.

Akron is hanging on to a close 21-19 all-time series lead. This is the first of two meetings between the teams this season. Akron has won 11 of the last 13 meetings between the two MAC rivals.

Akron's win streak came to an end as the Zips clashed with the MAC-leading Toledo Rockets, who are 15-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Rockets soared to victory, 75-61, behind 44.4 percent shooting from the floor. Demetrius Treadwell led all Akron scorers with 18 points in the contest, grabbing 10 rebounds to secure the double-double. Jake Kretzer added 14 points and Nick Harney chipped in 11 off the bench in the losing effort. The Zips shot 41.7 percent from the field.

Treadwell still leads the team in scoring with a 13.5 ppg average on 45.5 percent shooting from the floor. His 7.9 rpg is also tops on the Zips this season. Quincy Diggs is second in scoring, and the only other player to average double-digit scoring figures, at 12.3 ppg, despite the fact that Diggs has only started three games this season. Akron has averaged 69.2 ppg in its 17 games played.

Eastern Michigan traveled to Central Michigan's McGuirk Arena and won for the first time ever in three tries at the away location Saturday, as the Eagles defeated the Chippewas, 72-59, in MAC action. Mike Talley led all Eagles with 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor. Karrington Ward notched 15 points and 15 rebounds for the double-double, and Raven Lee added 10 points off the bench. Despite going 1-of-13 from 3-point distance, the Eagles still shot 43.8 percent from the floor.

Talley comes in at third on the Eastern Michigan roster this season in scoring with a 10.5 ppg average, but with a team-best 63 assists. Ward has the top spot in scoring for the Eagles at 13.4 ppg on 42.8 percent shooting from the field, and a team-best 6.7 rpg. Lee is second with 10.7 ppg this season. The Eagles average 69.2 ppg through their 17 games played, another identical statistic they share with Akron.

This matchup could be one of the better MAC meetings all season, as both teams are evenly matched. Although Akron suffered a loss in its last outing, the Zips should be able to rebound, even if it's on the road.
