GAME NOTES: A pair of teams at opposite ends of the Sun Belt Conference standings meet on Thursday night, as the Arkansas State Red Wolves play host to the Troy Trojans.

Arkansas State enters tonight's tilt riding a four-game win streak. Last Saturday, the Red Wolves defeated Texas State, 74-69, to improve to 9-4 overall, and match its best start to a season since beginning the 2008-09 campaign with the same mark.

Cameron Golden scored a career-high 20 points for Arkansas State, which is 2-0 and tied atop the Sun Belt standings. Ed Townsel added 12 points and Kirk Van Slyke tallied 11 for the Red Wolves, who blew a 13-point, second-half lead, but held on the for the win.

Van Slyke leads the Red Wolves in scoring with 16.2 ppg, while Melvin Johnson adds 14.7 ppg. Brandon Reed (10.5 ppg) rounds out the double-digit scorers for ASU, which scores 77.9 ppg and is 4-1 at home this season.

Troy, meanwhile, comes into this tilt having dropped two straight and six of seven overall. Last Saturday, the Trojans lost to Western Kentucky, 60-51, to fall to 0-2 in conference play.

Tevin Calhoun scored 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Troy, which used a late push to cut WKU's lead to just six points in the final minute, but the Hilltoppers hit 6-of-7 free throws down the stretch to hold serve.

The Trojans' offense has been anemic at best this season. Antoine Meyers leads the team with 12.4 ppg and as a collective unit, Troy averages just 65.4 ppg. Kevin Thomas (11.1) and Hunter Williams (10.7) are the only other players averaging double figures for the Trojans.

Troy has also been horrid on the road this season, losing all six road games and going 0-8 in games away from home, including neutral-site contests.

Arkansas State simply has too much firepower, and Troy is too bad on the road and just doesn't have enough offense to hang with the Red Wolves.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Arkansas State 80, Troy 65
