GAMES NOTES: With just two games left in the regular season the Towson Tigers and the George Mason Patriots will meet in a Colonial Athletic Association bout at the Patriot Center on Tuesday night.

Towson narrowly escaped with a 72-71 win on the road over Drexel on Saturday for its second straight victory and sixth in the last seven games. The Tigers are 11-5 in CAA action with two games left to play which has them tied with Delaware for second in the conference standings. Towson has split its 16 previous games on the road and is 16-13 overall. In the regular-season finale on Saturday, Towson hosts Hofstra.

The Patriots are right on the Tigers' heels in the league standings with a mark of 10-6 in league bouts. George Mason slipped by William & Mary in the first half of this two-game homestand on Saturday for its third win in the last four games. At home George Mason is a mediocre 7-5 this season but up next will play its final game of the regular season against Delaware.

These teams didn't look particularly even earlier this season when George Mason earned a 77-67 at the Towson Center. The Patriots have won 20 straight games against the Tigers and 27 of the last 29 matchups.

Drexel got two looks at the basket in the final five seconds and even had a pair of free-throw attempts but Towson still came away with the one-point victory. The Tigers missed two shots from the floor and 3-of-4 attempts from the free-throw line in the final minute but did outscore the Dragons, 21-6, from beyond the arc in the game.

Double-double machine Jerrelle Benimon (16.7 ppg, 11.2 rpg, 2.0 bpg) has been sensational for the Tigers this season. The 6-foot-8 forward is tied with Notre Dame's Jack Cooley for the second most double-doubles this season with 18. Benimon leads the CAA in rebounding, while ranking in the top three in blocked shots. Led by Benimon the Tigers are the best rebounding team in the CAA (39.9 pg) as well as one of the 15 best in the country. Marcus Damas (10.8 ppg, 5.2 rpg) is the only other player on the roster scoring in double figures. Jerome Hairston (9.7 ppg) and Mike Burwell (9.3 ppg) have hovered around that mark.

Erik Copes nailed a jumper with less than a second left on the clock to lift George Mason to a 60-58 victory over William & Mary. Patrick Holloway paced the team in the contest with 15 points off the bench. The Patriots outscored the Tribe 26-14 in the paint but were outscored 33-15 from beyond the arc.

Offensively speaking George Mason is a rather mediocre team in comparison to the rest of the Colonial Athletic Association. The Patriots are scoring 66.1 points per game, shooting 43.6 percent from the floor. On the other end the Patriots let up just 63.4 points per game, keeping foes to an even 40 percent shooting. However the Patriots aren't a particularly disciplined group as they have committed the most fouls (20.5 pg) in the conference, while ranking in the top 15 nationally. Sherrod Wright (16.6 ppg, 5.1 rpg) is the only consistent offensive force for the Patriots, who have no other players putting in more than eight points per game.

With a win against the Tigers under their belt already, the Patriots should yet again be on the winning side on their home floor.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: George Mason 70, Towson 60
