Green Bay, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Miles Dixon scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds as the third-seeded Wright State Raiders downed the sixth-seeded Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 73-57, in the second round of the Horizon League Tournament at Resch Center.
Matt Vest netted 11 points and dished out four assists, while the Raiders (19-13) connected on 53.5 percent of their field goal attempts in the game. Wright State will move on to play second-seeded Cleveland State in the semifinals of the Horizon League Tournament Saturday.
Travis Bader tallied 20 points on 5-of-13 shooting to pace Oakland (13-20), which ends a two-game Grizzlies winning streak. Dante Williams came off the bench to score 13 points, and Corey Petros brought down a team-high nine rebounds in the defeat.
Wright State shot an even 40 percent from the floor in the first half, including 6-of-14 from 3-point range, and took a 30-25 lead into the midway break. Oakland connected on 35 percent of its field goal attempts in the frame, and hit just 3-of-9 from deep.
The Raiders exploded in the second half, hitting 65.2 percent of their shots, and connected on 10-of-14 from the free-throw line. The Golden Grizzlies improved to 45.8 percent shooting in the period, but still fell behind by an additional 11 points to give Wright State the double-digit victory.
The Raiders held the edge in points in the paint, 28-18, and outrebounded Oakland, 31-23, in the contest.
